雅思写作：罪犯要不要被关进监狱？

　　今天我们通过雅思大作文犯罪类话题讨论一下可以如何处理这些罪犯。

 

题目如下

Task2

　　Sending criminals to prison is not the effective method to deal with them.Education and job training should be used instead. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

 

　　这道题属于议论文的题型。

 

　　罪犯应该如何处置？题目中给出了两种方案：sending them to prison和education and job training。应该选哪一种呢？题目中有个关键词instead, 即选择education and job training， 也就是这两种方案，题目中的观点只选了第二种，而放弃了关进监狱这种方案，原因是收监是not effective的方案。那么你同意还是不同意呢？一个杀人犯不用坐牢？我不同意！（当然犯罪不是只有murder，还有诸如theft， robbery，financial fraud等。）

 

　　在主体段的写作方面，我们要先让步，即讨论对方观点的合理性，即题目中说的，坐牢无效，教育和职业培训有效，并且论证一下对方观点成立的理由。所以坐牢为什么无效呢？

 

　　曾春亮曾经坐过牢，但是出狱后由于没有稳定的生活来源还是走上了犯罪的老路，所以这里我们可以提出：坐牢并不能阻止罪犯再次犯罪。而教育和职业培训，可以起到让罪犯认识自己错误并掌握一定工作技能的作用，这样他们被教育和接受完培训后就能找到工作，就不用靠偷或者抢来生活了。

 

我们经过以上讨论，让步段的内容可以这么写

　　Admittedly, some people may hold the view that schooling and vocation training is more effective than imprisonment to some extent in handling criminals because the latter cannot prevent them from recidivism while the former can make it. Once the crime-committers are released from the captivity, they are likely tocommit crimes again to revenge the society, but having been educated and trained professionally, they can be reformed mentally and employed stably, thus living a normal social life.

 

　　但是，这两种方案就一定要二选其一吗？就不能两种都选？当然可以。题目中的观点只选了一个，我选两个，也是在“不同意”。在下面的主体段中，我们驳斥对方的观点并提出自己的想法。

 

　　However, I think putting evil-doers behind bars is as effective as education and profession training, which means these two measures can be carried out at the same time. To begin with, sending villains into jail is a deterrent stopping them from becoming recidivists. Confined in the prison, they are deprived of personal freedom. For instance, they have to follow the daily schedule made by the police in charge about when to get up and sleep, and in order to go to the bathroom, they have to report to the jailer.

 

　　In addition, education and occupation training is beneficial for the reforming of prisoners. The authorities can cooperate with universities and training institutions to educate the prisoners and cultivate their working skills. For example, the police officers can invite someexperts in law and psychology to the jail to impart the concerned knowledge to help the evil-doers have a clear idea about their mental problems and the laws and regulations they have to follow as a social member, and under the supervision of policemen, the prisoners can alsoacquire skills like sewing, automotive maintenance or computer operation in the training centers.
